NationStates is a free nation simulation game. Build a nation and run it according to your own warped political ideals. Create a Utopian paradise for society's less fortunate or a totalitarian corporate police state. Care for your people or deliberately oppress them. Join the United Nations or remain a rogue state. It's really up to you.
My husband turned me on today to this online simulation and based on my answers to issues on corporate power in government, marjuana legalization, military, capitalism, spirituality, and crime, the UN rates me as a corrupt dictatorship. "My dictatorship government ensures that no-one outside the party gets too rich. In their personal lives, however, citizens are relatively unoppressed; it remains to be seen whether this is because the government genuinely cares about its people, or if it hasn't gotten around to stamping out civil rights yet."
The day-to-day politics at my present office job pales in comparison to running a hard-nosed, cynical pretend population of 5 million. Who would have thought I'd find it fun to rule with an iron fist?
